Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti has cautioned young people against being used by politicians to disrupt peace before, during and after the August 8 polls.
Ndeti alleges that some selfish politicians are taking advantage of the electioneering period to engage youths in violent activities.
The Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) leader told youths to be careful with the politicians and political aspirants they associate with.
“Our appeal to young people is to be careful and stop associating with politicians who are keen to use them as objects of violence,” she said as quoted by the Star Newspaper.
Ndeti alleged that some politicians are already recruiting young people to cause violence ahead of the August polls. She appealed to the relevant government agencies to take stern action against politicians who are out to incite Kenyans.
The Machakos gubernatorial aspirant noted that the August polls will be peaceful if politicians who spew hatred are dealt with according to the law.
Meanwhile, the CCU party leader has urged youths who have not registered as voters to do so when the exercise kicks off later this month.
She said that young people have an opportunity to elect leaders of their choice only if they register as voters.
Ndeti’s caution to youths against being lured to violence come as calls to have National Assembly leader of Majority Aden Duale arrested over alleged incitement remarks continue.
A section of Kamba leaders led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka have condemned Duale for allegedly inciting Garissa youths against Kambas living in the constituency.
They have called for immediate arrest and prosecution of Duale over the alleged hate remarks.
