Machakos County boss Dr. Alfred Mutua might not be re-elected if NASA remains united. According to Francis Atwoli, Mutua should pray for the disintegration of NASA led by Ukambani point man Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking on JKL, the unionist confirmed that whoever will be fronted by a united NASA can floor Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader.
The outspoken COTU leader said with surety that Mutua’s survival depends on opposition unity. Any chances of Kalonzo Musyoka persevering the tides in NASA till August 8 will make Mutua potentially a one term governor.
He added that despite some polls suggesting that Alfred Mutua will retain his gubernatorial seat alongside his Kiambu counterpart William Kabogo and the coastal Sultan Hassan Joho, Mutua’s chances are minimal. He confirmed that Joho can win even in Nairobi but Mutua should prepare for a tough race.
His sentiments suggested that the opposition choice has a better chance. The probable favorite is Wavinya Ndeti who has been at the forefront demanding for Kalonzo’s NASA candidature.
She has climbed the political ladder in Machakos at a rate that should worry Governor Mutua.
She is almost taking over from former Land CS Charity Ngilu. If she successfully enters top national politics then Ukambani will have a new political face.
