Life in the 21 century is fast paced and busy. The typical person today is bombarded with myriad responsibilities on all fronts. This can easily rob one of inner strength, coping mechanisms and all energy rendering one immensely exhausted and severely frustrated, a situation referred to as burnout.
Manage stress.
The major cause of burnout is excessive stress. While stress in today’s world is inevitable, there are options to keep it in check without ruining one’s health. There is also a great need to maintain a positive attitude and give room to humor even in difficult situations. In the long run, you will realize that some of the things you are stressed over are not worth sending you in a psychiatric ward.
Practice better nutrition
Nutrients are to the body what fuel is to a car. The excess demands exerted on individuals on all fronts nowadays put an increased demand of nutrients on the body. Constantly nourishing the body with foods rich in proteins reduces your susceptibility to burnout to a great deal by providing the body with the nutrients it needs to function effectively.
Take time out once in a while
It helps to schedule short periods of downtime to help recharge your energy. These periods of rest brief often refuel the brain and ensure that you do not push beyond the reasonable limits. It can be anything from taking a few minutes to stretch, or taking a 15-minute nap, taking a walk or even turning off the Wi-Fi.
Embrace a morning ritual
What you engage in few minutes after waking up often sets a pace for the entire day. It is important to kick start the day by waking up a few minutes earlier and giving yourself more time to boot in the morning. It helps bolster your psychological wellbeing during the day further enabling you to handle the daily pressures with greater mental fortitude.
Hydrate
Dehydration hampers the optimum performance of major body organs thus contributing to severe fatigue. For instance, the brain is made of 75 percent water and can only perform to optimum level with sufficient hydration. The recommended eight glasses of water a day will give you increased energy levels during the day and keep severe tiredness at bay.
Detoxify
This can be easily achieved through simple modifications in your diet. By incorporating natural foods that have been proven to contain detoxifying properties such as tomatoes, beetroot, cucumber, kale or avocados just to mention but a few, you are well on your way to a cleaner system that will give greater mental muscle to handle the daily activities effectively.
Set clear boundaries
The most avoidable cause of burnout is exerting undue pressure on oneself simply because you want to do it all. Neglecting your health in a bid to play hero may have irreversible consequences. Letting go of the excessive tasks, especially those that you cannot manage enables you to cover more mileage in the few activities you engage in while taking good care of your health.
