Workers from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishery and Cooperative Development in Kisii County have presented their grievances to the county administration accusing the county for not promoting them.

According to them, the county has never promoted them since agriculture was devolved n in county governments.

Speaking on Wednesday at Gusii Cultural Hall during the meeting with the county governor James Ongwae, they said the county has been sidelining them since devolution began.

“We have been sidelined and we have not been promoted. The county has been busy working upon other departments but our department been refurbished,” they said.

The workers gave an example of the health department where the county has employed and promoted workers unlike agriculture which is the backbone of the county.

“It is really unfair for the Kisii County government to promote the health sector staff and leave the agriculture sector staff stagnating in the same job groups for several years explaining the logic behind this,’’ they added.

Governor Ongwae responded to them during the Wednesday meeting and assured the workers that the government has put measures in place and the issue will be handled.
