President Uhuru Kenyatta's cousin Kathleen Kihanya has faulted claims in the media that her company illegally received Sh200 million funds from the Ministry of Health.

Ms Kihunya said that Sundales International Limited had followed due process in the application for tender and had won the Sh41 million contract in a competitive bidding process.

"Throughout the process we complied entirely with the provisions of the tender, and the transaction was above board," she said on Saturday at a media briefing.

Cord leader Raila Odinga had on Friday associated Kihanya to the alleged loss of funds that affected the Health ministry.

However, Kihanya accused Mr Odinga of playing politics for self gain at the expense of integrity.

"We are Kenyans and it is our right to do business in our country. For someone to cast doubt on our integrity for unnecessary political mileage and excite the public on false allegations [it] is totally unacceptable," she said.
