Nyange also said the police department has put various mechanisms in place to cub criminal activities in the region as part of 2017 security plans.

Speaking on Wednesday in Kikuyu town, Nyange urged locals to coordinate with police officers as the primary method of restoring security in the region.

"Those people engaging in acts of crime should surrender before we catch up with them. We want to live in a peaceful environment free of threats and attacks from criminals," he said.

"We are not going to spare anyone found culpable. Time has come for us to ensure security is improved and that will happen if locals also take this initiative serious and work closely with police officers. We have done our part and hopefully locals will follow suit," he added.

Similar sentiments were echoed by County Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga who urged locals to cooperate with security officers to restore sanity in the region.
