They claim that due to lack of sheds in the market, the scorching sun forces them to close the business since they could not withstand the strong sun rays.

"The strong sun has paralysed our operations in the market. We can not operate when the sun rays are strong. Customers who come in the market at times finds us closed," said Dinah Okeyo a trader.

Mary Morikwa noted that traders have now opted to operate during late hours in the evening and this has made them lose more customers who come to buy in the market during the afternoon.

"If the county government will hasten the construction of market sheds we will operate any time even during times of rains since the rains have also hindered our operations in the market," said Gladys Onsombi.

She added that the Kisii county government promised to construct enough sheds in the market but until today, there is no plan for the same to happen soon.

"We pay revenues to the county daily. Where does our money go to? The money should be used to ensure our business environment is conducive for successful operations," she argued.

She urged traders to form groups and contribute to buy materials to construct temporal sheds for them to operate fully in the market without being interrupted by rains and strong sun.
