A pollster has denied claims that it is being used by politicians to manipulate opinion polls in their favour.
On Tuesday, Raphael Mulwa from Infotrak Hariss Research Company, rubbished allegations from across the political divide that the firm is not independent in conducting poll research.
Mulwa who is the firm's public policy and governance research manager told Milele FM that the firm does not receive any funding from either the government or opposition, but relies on its own resources to conduct opinion polls.
"Matters of public interest like political opinion polls do not warrant us to seek for funding from anyone. That is why claims that we are being funded by politicians are ridiculous. However, when any politician approaches us to do a survey on him then we have to charge some amount of money," he said.
He added that matters of opinion polls are very scientific, and could easily reflect the true state of affairs.
Mulwa also said they won't be shaken by a proposal by the Amani Coalition seeking to have opinion poll bodies regulated.
The firm has lately come under criticism from civilians and politicians each seeking to discredit their latest survey released last Sunday which showed President Uhuru Kenyatta leading with 45 per cent followed distantly by opposition leader Raila Odinga at 28 per cent.
The survey results were announced by Infotrak chief executive Angela Ambitho.
However, both camps have since dismissed the findings, with ODM terming the results as irrelevant and diversionary while State House also saying the firm was on the opposition payroll.
