Kitui governor Charity Ngilu has been accused for allowing her cabinet nominees to start work before they are being vetted and approved by the assembly members.

The 30 MCAs led by Kitui assembly majority leader Peter Kilonzo said they are not happy with how Ngilu is running her administration.

“The way the governor is conducting affairs of the county government is against the roles of the county assembly. She is violating the Constitution and the laws of the land,” Kilonzo said.

Kilonzo noted that Ngilu will not use the MCAs as a mere rubber stamp.

He said the nominees have started official duties publicly.

“Last month, there have been about 10 to 15 strangers working around the governor’s office without official appointment. Some have been ordering staff around and distributing official documents,” he said.

They asked governor Ngilu to respect the assembly and the law.
