ODM Party national Chair John Mbadi has stated that the Opposition outfit NASA is not bewildered by KANU's decision to back President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August polls.
Speaking on Thursday during an interview with Citizen TV, the Suba MP observed that recent developments within KANU were enough evidence that the former ruling party was not keen to join Nasa.
"I do not think we were surprised. Because if you had followed developments in the past few weeks you could see where KANU was gravitating to. Starting with the famous visits by the former First Lady (Mama Ngina Kenyatta) to former president (Daniel Moi), at least we knew something was coming ," he said.
In a statement on Thursday, KANU announced that it will be supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid during the next general elections, ending months of speculations.
“We have had fruitful consultations and negotiations among ourselves and other key partners. The party has now resolved to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid,” said secretary-general Nick Salat after a NEC meeting.
The resolution came amid reiterations by Salat in the past that Kanu was firmly in NASA.
