A section of herbalists from Bomariba ward in Bonchari Sub County have denied claims that they have been carrying out witchcraft activities in the region.
Led by their chairman Moi Ondoro, the herbalists said members of the society should not brand them witches.
“We are not witches as some of the people have been saying. We have no links to witchcraft. We are herbalists trying to cure various diseases," he said.
Mr Osoro said that they were accredited by Kisii County to offer traditional medical services.
“All herbalists not only from Bomariba but across Kisii County have received modern education from experts on how to prepare drugs from plants. We are recognized by the Kisii County government and members of the public should ignore information going round in villages claiming that we are witches,” he said.
The herbalist lauded Kisii County Governor James Ongwae for agreeing to support herbalists across the county saying since they were enrolled at the herbalists’ school they have acquired competent skills on how to serve their patients.
