Thirdway Alliance presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot has said he is satisfied with the preparation of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) level of preparedness ahead of the presidential election.
Aukot was making a U-turn on conditions he had earlier laid for IEBC before participating in the October 26 repeat polls.
“We feel they have addressed some of the issues we had. We told them to confirm in writing, and they are yet to do that, but we are somewhat convinced they are ready,” said Aukot.
Aukot had previously demanded that IEBC officials accused of bungling the August polls must leave before the election.
He also changed his stance over who should vie, and has now welcomed other candidates in the nullified race to participate again.
“Let everyone who was there come on board. The country needs to move forward,” said Aukot.
He added that whether Raila participates or not, the election must now be conducted.
“The fresh election cannot be predicated on the decision of one candidate. If one candidate chooses to withdraw, Kenya cannot come to a standstill,” he said.
