Thika town legislator Alice Ng’ang’a has said they are prepared to pass the Security Amendment Bill in order to put to end the insecurity in the country.

Speaking at Thika town on Monday, the MP said that Jubilee MPs will use their numbers to ensure the Bill is passed come Thursday.

She further added that the amended law will help address rising insecurity in the country, dismissing claims that the Bill will infringe on Kenyans’ rights.

“We are prepared to pass the Security Amendment Bill come Thursday to guarantee safety of our country,” said Nga’ng’a.

The lawmaker said that those opposed to the Bill have no interest in the security of Kenyans and their property.

Nga’ng’a however said that those opposed to the Bill will have a chance to air the views before the Bill is debated in Parliament.

She observed that security is critical and very leader must take responsibility and ensure proper laws are passed, further noting that Parliament is mandated to formulate and review laws in the interest of the public, and that the opposition should support the proposed laws.

The lawmaker said that for the last two years, Kenya has been under threats from militia groups and other criminal groups; hence the need for passing such laws that will protects Kenyans.

Nga’ng’a asked Thika residents to be vigilant and work with law enforcers to boost security, especially this holiday season.
