Machakos county governor Alfred Mutua has said that his county is ready to host this year's Mashujaa Day National celebrations.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, the governor further expressed his elation following the president's announcement that Machakos county will be hosting this year's Mashujaa Day slated for 20th October.

"We are grateful to president Uhuru Kenyatta for choosing Machakos county to host Kenya as we celebrate our heroes and what makes us great as Kenyans during this year's Mashujaa Day," the governor's statement read. 

Earlier in the day, governor Mutua had led Machakos county residents in celebrating this year's Madaraka Day celebrations. 

Mwala constituency Member of Parliament Vincent Musyoka Musau also took it to Facebook expressing his satisfaction following the president's announcement. 

"It is encouraging to learn that Mashujaa Day celebrations will be held in our great county of Machakos," the legislator said.
