Kiala on Monday said that Sonko should join the opposition to advance its agenda ahead of 2017.

The Machakos deputy governor said it was good to see Sonko admire the opposition.

He added: “Sonko is free to join us in opposition as we plan to unseat Jubilee in next year’s general election.”

“Sonko is our son and he should feel free to join our vehicle as we prepare for 2017,” added Kiala on phone.

Two weeks ago, the Nairobi senator hinted that he was ready to quit Jubilee and join Cord.

Sonko however said he will quit on condition that Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka is endorsed as Cord presidential flag bearer.

Sonko said he respects Kalonzo, and that he was ready to work with the former Vice President to bring Kenyans together.

Several opposition leaders have welcomed Sonko to Cord.

There have been claims that Sonko was seeking Kalonzo’s support to unseat Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua in the 2017 elections.

Sources claim that Sonko could vie for the Machakos gubernatorial seat.

The flamboyant Nairobi senator has declared interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat which has also attracted other competitive aspirants.
