Residents of Olympic area have now opted to live with the deplorable state of the environment in the area.
This is since their efforts in asking the county government to help end the menace bore no fruits.
The residents now say that even if they protest or call for relevant authority to collect the garbage, it is a waste of time since the several attempts they have made brought them nothing.
The residents accused the county government, through the Ministry of Environment, for failing to administer accordingly and ensure that the people are living in a good, hygienic environment.
"We have made attempts to reach our leaders to help us improve the state of the environment in the area. The leaders promise to come to our rescue but they go missing. As residents we have decided to move on since there is nothing we can do," said Daniel Mutuku.
"God is in control as of now since our leaders have failed. Even the garbage problem has been on the rise in Kibera slums, but at Olympic, an urgency is needed to save the lives of the people from being attacked by diseases associated with dirty environments," said Veronica Ogeto.
She added that they now live in fear since their children play around the garbage that has been thrown next to living premises.
"We are in fear children who plays around the garbage may be infected by diseases since efforts to stop them from playing around the garbage at times fails especially when parents are away for work," she noted.
