The ODM party has castigated calls by their opponents, that they can prosecute corrupt individuals.
The party said the role of fighting graft by law lies with Constitutional institutions which are allocated funds to mitigate graft, and that the party can only expose graft cases and those implicated.
"The role of fighting graft by law rests with constitutional institutions created to mitigate graft, backed by huge budgetary allocations."
ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale slammed those perceiving some Counties as ODM Counties and so ODM should fight graft in them.
He said the anti-graft agency should take up the responsibility as stipulated in the Constitution and fight graft in all the devolved units.
He noted the party once investigated graft claims in Kisumu County and made recommendations to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), but the two institutions never acted on it.
"Let institutions meant to investigate, prosecute and jail the corrupt do their job. Ours is, and has always been, to expose graft. If the government feels it can't fight graft in some counties, let it say so; and we will make suggestions on that."
ODM has now challenged the national government to stop perceiving Counties as party-led Counties, and concentrate in ensuring a graft-free nation.
"We are seeing some counties being "set aside" with the lie that these are ODM counties and ODM should fight graft in them, big lie. The same government agencies tasked with fighting graft in Kiambu are the same agencies tasked with fighting graft in Migori,'' ODM said in a statement, Wednesday.
