This came barely a day after a fatal road accident at Nyambera bridge where three people perished after a truck lost control and ploughed into the victims who included boda-boda operators.

Protesting outside the county government offices, the residents led by Walter Nyakundi read a petition before the county secretary, Johnstone Ndege and roads Member of Executive Committee (MEC) John Omwoyo who represented Governor James Ongwae.

They also sent representatives who handed over a copy of the petition to the county commissioner, Kula Hache

Reading the petition ,Walter Nyakundi decried continued loss of human lives through accidents on the bad roads.

"Today we have held peaceful demonstration petitioning the national Government and the county to work upon since we are losing lives due to the poor state of Darajamoja-Nyamataro-Nyambera road,” said Nyakundi.

They accused the national government officials who have been making empty promises.

“The Government has been making false promises, we call for immediate repairs of the roads for both governments since the county also has to ,be blamed since it collects revenue,” added Nyakundi.

However, the county secretary and MEC absolved the county government from being responsible saying that the roads belonged to the national government.

“The county government has done its part, the road which you are complaining about belongs to Area MP so I advise you to send your grievances to him,” said Johnston Ndege.
