Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero has said that the city county needs Sh3.8 billion more from the exchequer to run its programmes smoothly.
Kidero said the amount would be used in line with the city’s population of four million and status so as to dispense services effectively to the people.
This is contrary to Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) Chairperson Micah Cheserem who has c=however insisted that Nairobi is rich enough to fund its own programmes as well as loaning to other counties.
Kidero said that the current revenue allocation formula used by CRA is biased to favour marginalised counties which have less population than Nairobi.
"In reality, Nairobi houses up to four million persons and the population bulges to five million which means we need more allocation," he said.
