Nyamira County Director of Medical Services Douglas Bosire has come out to strongly defend the county over allegations that they spent up to Sh7 million for the construction of the Nyamira Level Four Hospital gate.
Bosire, who was speaking in Nyamira town on Thursday said that the said funds was not only used to put up a modern gate, but was also used to put up other supportive structures for both the patients and the people taking care of them while at the health facility.
Bosire said that the money was used to build shades at the health facility, and also built a perimeter wall all-round the hospital for security purposes.
He also noted that the county has invested in modern, expensive machines for the hospital, which need to be taken good care of.
The director also said the money was used to repair hospital facilities and painting both the inside and outside of the facility, adding that the county government has plans to move the hospital from a level four hospital to a level five health facility.
“The county government of Nyamira has invested a lot on this hospital and it has plans of upgrading it to a level five hospital. Expensive machines have been bought and they need to be protected, these equipment need to be secured and that is why we put up the gate and a perimeter fence,” he said.
