The electoral body on Monday said at no point did it verify the authenticity of signatures presented in support of the Okoa Kenya initiative by opposition Cord.

IEBC said any mark was admitted as an intention or consent by the petitioner.

“The commission did not reject a single signature because of its structure or formation. The records that were rejected were those that were not found in the voters register,” the commission said.

The polls body also said some record presented by Cord had signatures but without national identity or passport numbers, while others had just names and no other details.

The commission said there was no need to fault if for the collapse of the referendum drive by the opposition.
