Twenty-six anti-Mutua Members of the county assembly, who unsuccessfully voted for the impeachment of Governor Alfred Mutua, have said that they did their part and its well with their souls.
According to the MCAs, they have no reason to regret after fighting for what belongs to the people of Machakos.
Led by Ndalani MCA Stephen Muthuka, the leaders said "it is well with our souls" since they had done the right thing. "We are happy we have done our bit; it's now for the public to decide if they want to re-elect Mutua and give him another chance to continue messing up their lives," he said.
Muthuka also said that they will be remembered by the next generations that they stood for nothing but the truth and accountability.
"For us it will go into the books of history that we once stood for what was right," he added.
His sentiments were backed by Ikombe MCA Nathaniel Nganga who said that they had taken the right step by informing Machakos residents that Mutua was misusing county resources.
"We actually did expect the motion to pass but it's a big score because the public now know very well who Governor Mutua is," he said.
