The Kenya Defence Forces have come out to speak on the fire incident that took place at their Department of Defence (DoD) headquarters in Hurlingham.
Speaking on Tuesday, KDF spokesperson Colonel David Obonyo said the fire did not cause any significant loss.
He said that the building affected by the fire was what they use to store items pending disposal.
Obonyo added that no one was injured in the fire.
"It is an old structure at the end of the compound. There was nothing of value to KDF in it. It is used to keep stuff awaiting the disposal procedures," he said.
"Even if you asked the Nairobi fire brigade, they will tell you most of what was in the structure were old tyres," Obonyo said as reported by the Star.
According to the spokesman, the fire was noticed at 5.30am and county fire fighters were called in to assist KDF personnel put it out.
The fire was finally put out by 7am.
The spokesman added that the fire might have been caused by an electric fault although investigations are on-going to establish the cause.
