State House has denied striking a deal with the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) to hold dialogue to resolve the IEBC stalemate.
In a statement released on Thursday, State House head of public communication Munyori Buku said the two sides did not agree to nominate representatives to discuss the IEBC issue.
Buku reiterated President Uhuru Kenyatta's sentiments that the disbandment of the electoral body has to follow the Parliamentary process.
“The president and the DP have been categorical that they swore to defend and protect the Constitution; on the IEBC issue, that position cannot change,” read the statement in part.
Buku rubbished the Caolition's claims saying the only issue that was discussed during the Tuesday State House visit was the invitation to the Madaraka Day celebrations in Nakuru.
“If a deal had been struck, they would have confidently announced it to the country. That they opted for subterfuge in the night shows the desperation of a threadbare duo,”
However, Cord principal Raila Odinga has insisted that a deal was struck during the visit.
Odinga further accused the president of backtracking on the agreement, saying they had agreed to form a ten-member team to start negotiations on how to remove the IEBC commissioners from office.
The coalition has already named five legislators to spearhead the talks.
Cord had earlier said that they would resume with their anti-IEBC protests on Monday if the talks fail.
