Lecturers in public universities have denied reports by the Ministry of Education that they have struck a deal to end the strike.

UASU Secretary General Constantine Wasonga refuted claims that the Government has spent Sh5.2 billion in the current fiscal year to resolve the current Collective Bargaining Agreement impasse.

Wasonga maintains they will remain on strike until the Government releases Sh5.2 billion to cater for the increase.

The strike has paralysed learning in public universities across the country as lecturers vow not to resume work until their demands are met.

And as the strike entered its third week, the Universities Academic Staff Union has asked lecturers to stay out of the lecture halls saying the Ministry is taking them for a ride.

UASU demands that salary and house allowances that were to be increased as negotiated in the 2013-17 CBA signed by the government and labor relations must be implemented.
