Supporters of the National Supper Alliance (Nasa) Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga in Uasin Gishu have been asked to remain calm following reports that they were being threatened by their Jubilee counterparts.

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan says there is no cause of alarm as security agencies across the county are on high alert ahead of the repeat Presidential elections.

Speaking at his office in Eldoret town on Friday, Hassan however said there was no official complaints filed with the police over threats to Nasa supporters in the county.

On Thursday, Nasa campaign team in the Uasin Gishu claimed their supporters were been warned against voting for Raila Odinga.

Nasa presidential campaigns coordinator in the North Rift Kipkorir Menjo claimed some supporters had been asked to either vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta or be prepared to move out of the county.

"We have not received such reports but we want to assure residents that our security team is on high alert and in the event we get credible information in relation to that matter we will act decisively against perpetrators," Hassan said.

"As a government we have a duty to provide security to our people irrespective of their political affiliations," he added.

Uasin Gishu with 450,055 voters is a key Jubilee stronghold and in the nullified August 8 elections, Odinga garnered slightly over 70,000 votes.
