Led by Elder John Seii, they said their mandate was only to give directions to ensure every region in the county has representation.

"It's sad there are some few self centred individuals spreading rumours that we have endorsed some politicians. This is not true since we are neutral," he said after meeting leaders from Uasin Gishu County on Monday at the Eldoret Cultural Center.

He added, "We will not campaign for anyone instead all aspirants should go to the grassroots to seek their votes. It's upon the public to decide, not us."

They, however, said the formula to pick politicians where the governor will come from the North, Senator from the East and Women representative from South still remains and must be followed.

"As elders that was our direction of and everyone must abide by it," he said.

They called upon the aspirants to ask for votes in a peaceful manner and shun divisive politics.

"As elders this time we will not just sit and watch while some self centered politicians divide Kenyans. We will even bar them from contesting. We won't allow what occurred in 2007 to reoccur," he warned.
