A caucus of leaders who have been holding meetings to promote Gusii unity has come out to defend themselves by saying they are for development, not political alignment and they have not endorsed anybody to vie for any seat .
The caucus composed of Senator Chris Obure, former Commission on Implementation of the Institution (CIC) Mr Charles Nyachae, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, eight of the county’s nine sitting National Assembly members and a section of the County MCAs have been getting criticism from some people who say that they are for self-interest.
Addressing the Media on Tuesday at Kisii sports club, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi who is also the secretary of the group said that they are not for political agenda but development.
“Some people are criticising our move that we are for political agenda, I want to assure them that we are for development not as they think,” he said.
Maangi added that they have not endorsed anybody to any seat in the county come 2017 as their opponents say and to him, there is nothing wrong to have unity as the community.
“Nobody in the group has been endorsed for any seat, our main agenda is to unite the community so that we can develop,” he said.
He also cautioned leaders who give out handouts to youths to disrupt meetings more so in funerals and other meetings.
“It is so shameful for leaders to give out handouts to the youths in the name of disrupting meetings, what was observed in Nyacheki during the MCAs funeral was not good and we advise those sending youths to stop that and let our youths be used in development," said Maangi.
