Marsabit county government inherited a Sh1 billion debt from the previous administration according to the new governor Mohamud Ali.

Speaking during the official opening of the county assembly sitting in Marsabit town on Wednesday, Governor Ali told the MCAs that that 2017/2018 budget was yet to be approved.

He pleaded with the MCAs to approve the budget to allow county government to run its operations.

“It is my hope that you will approve the budget so that we can get money to run our government”, the governor said.

Ali defeated former governor Ukur Yatani during the August 8 general elections.
