Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has dismissed claims that the county government of Kisii has failed to involve members of the public in initiating projects and passing of bills at the county assembly.
According to Maangi, members of the public have been engaged in making crucial decisions in the county since 2013.
"Members of the public have been fully involved in making decisions before the initiation of projects and passing of bills is done since 2013. There are no plans to change that soon because we will go against the constitution and the laws of the land," he said.
He accused opponents of spreading propaganda about governor Ongwae's administration.
"Opponents should wait until 2022 because it is not the time for politics. Claims that there is poor public participation in the county are false and misleading only meant to taint governor Ongwae's name politically," he added.
Maangi assured that public participation is mandatory and the county government must engage the public before any bill is passed or policy is initiated.
"Through the department of public administration, the public will be fully made aware through public forums on the projects to be initiated and bills to be passed in the County. Let us be good ambassadors because divisive and politics of propaganda will derail development in the county," he stated.
