Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala has said that Wiper must have nominations to pick a candidate who will oust Governor Alfred Mutua.
This comes after Wavinya Ndeti said she is the people’s choice to contest on a Wiper Democratic Movement ticket something that renders nominations useless. Speaking in Mutituni, Kiala said he must face Wavinya and Peter Mathuki in primaries.“The official spokesperson of the party is the leader himself and I have not heard him say such a thing. Anybody else going out there to say his/her own things is deceiving the people,” Kiala said as quoted by the Star.Wavinya had earlier said that she is the candidate to dethrone Mutua and her running mate will be Mathuki.“I am the Wiper candidate for Machakos governor. This is not our wish but the people’s will,” Wavinya said at St Jude’s Catholic Church in Athi River. However, Kiala has said he will only believe in the politicking if Wavinya is issued with a certificate or endorsed by the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka. He that the choice should be based on one’s manifesto and nomination outcome.“I have heard them asking me to agree to hold talks. But the only talks I will agree to are those that ensure every candidate shows their manifesto and not talks based on who gets what percentage of government,” he said.
