A section of tea farmers from Gesima ward in Kitutu Masaba who are affiliated to Nyasiongo Tea Factory have challenged the management to increase this year's bonus payments.

According to them Nyasiongo is among the best factories in the region which produce quality tea leaves, hence they have no excuse of no paying them the highest bonuses.

Led by chairman Atera Makori, they challenged the management to adjust its measures in which will increase the years bonus.

“The factory is the best producer in the region through that the selling is good hence we need to be paid increases of some amount ion this year’s bonus” said Atera

They added that most of them they depend in the cash crop and if they are not paid well they end up counting loses.

“We need better payments so that we can be able to use the money in various activities since we depend on the crop,” he told this writer on Thursday at Riong’iona tea buying centre.

Nyarinda Mogaka, also a farmer, said that monthly payment should also be raised from Sh8  per kilo to at least Sh15 as one way of motivating the farmers.
