There is a great need for businessmen and women from outside Africa to invest in Kenya, to boost her economy and create employment, former vice-president Kalonzo Musyoka has said.
The Wiper Democratic Movement Leader said this on Sunday 27/09/2015 while hosting a delegation of Chinese investors at his residence in Karen Nairobi, who have visited the country to explore for prospects of investment.
“Kenya is the gateway to East African Market so when you invest your money in this country, you are assured of an East African Market, so please come and set your headquarters in this great countr,” said Kalonzo, who is the Honorary Chairman of World Eminent Chinese Businessmen Association (WECBA), a group of businessmen with diverse investments across the world.
Kalonzo was accompanied by other CORD members including CORD leader Raila Odinga and his Wife Ida, Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Robert Mbui and Peter Mathuki.
Odinga said at a time like this, Kenya needs ‘massive’ investment.
After visiting Maasai Mara today to witness seventh wonder of the world; the wild beast migration, the delegation is also expected to visit South Africa, Namibia, Zambia and the United Arab Emirates in this second leg of their African visit dubbed “the Second Entrepreneurs Charity Journey to Africa”.
The team led by Lu Junqing is in the country for three days where they will hold various meetings with potential partners in different fields including real estate, Agriculture trade, Energy and Mining and steel production among others.
WECBA through the China-Africa Hope project, donated and built 20 schools to African 10 of which where donated to Kenya through Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation (KMF) in 2011.
The schools four in Mwingi and six in Kisii County have greatly improved the education standards of the areas mentioned.
