Ting'ang'a Ward MCA Lawrence Mwaura has vowed not to relent on the fight to have Ward Development Fund (WDF) constituted.
Speaking at Ting'ang'a Model School on Thursday where he received a cheque from the Kenya Charity Sweepstake which is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) the betting organisation is extending to schools in the area, Mwaura said that MCAs are faced with several challenges as the electorate expects a lot from them.
"Most Kenyans are yet to fully understand how the devolved government works. The electorate come seeking for bursaries from ward representatives failing to understand that the funds are in MPs office,” said Mwaura.
He added that ward representatives need some special funds just like the MPs have Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
"We therefore need the WDF to be able to serve our people well. We are not going to relent in our push to have the funds,” said Mwaura.
The MCA thanked the Kenya Charity Sweepstakes for the support they offered to the school urging other well-wishers to follow their footsteps.
At the same time, the school board chairman David Mwaura criticised the recently concluded Form One selections terming it as unfair.
