The bid to boycott certain consumer products and the need to have county assemblies discuss the motion on formation of the People's Assembly are the reasons NASA cancelled its demonstrations planned for yesterday Friday.
In a statement to newsrooms, the opposition outfit called upon their supporters to stay away from the demos that had been planned for Nairobi.
This was after the NASA leadership agreed in a meeting at the Okoa Kenya offices to have some time away from the streets until all the targetted county assemblies pass the 'People's Assembly' motions that seek to nullify results of the October 26 repeat presidential election.
"NASA wishes to notify its supporters that the peaceful protests for electoral justice that had been scheduled to take place on Friday have been postponed until further notice," read a statement signed by Siaya Senator James Orengo.
Orengo said this would give the Opposition room to support ongoing work at county assemblies in their strongholds.
"A new date will be announced in due course. NASA in the meantime wishes to congratulate the county assemblies that have so far debated and passed the Motion on Peoples Assembly and encourages those yet to do so to move with speed and give Kenyans a chance to decide their destiny," Orengo said.
Prior to the cancellation, NASA coalition's National Resistance Movement (NRM) wing had written to Nairobi County Police Commander Japheth Koome notifying him of the intention to hold the demos.
