Members of Amani National Congress (ANC) party vowed to leave the NASA coalition and go it alone if Musalia Mudavadi is not named the coalition's flagbearer.

In a meeting attended by aspirants and delegates from Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and Trans Nzoia counties, the party resolved that Mudavadi must at all costs be on the ballot as the presidential candidate.

"We are tired of supporting other people and communities. It is our time to contest for the top seat," said ANC Bungoma County branch secretary Martin Waliaula.

He argued that since NASA comprises two major affliates in Cord and ANC, each party should have a share of either the flag-bearer or the running-mate.

Waliaula said that since Mudavadi is the founder of NASA, he should not accept the yet-to-be-created Chief Minister slot.

"We do not want anything except the presidency. Cord should produce one person to be either president or deputy but not to claim all the top seats," he said.

According to ANC's Shinyalu MP aspirant Adrian Meja, a Raila-Kalonzo ticket will automatically guarantee President Kenyatta an early victory.

"ODM and other parties in NASA are wasting time arguing that a Raila-Kalonzo ticket will win the election. If Mudavadi will not be picked, then it means we have to forget the presidency because President Uhuru will win," said Meja.

“Raila-Kalonzo contested against President Uhuru Kenyatta and he defeated them. We cannot present the same pair against him (Uhuru) because he will defeat them again. Mudavadi will make a change for the Opposition to win,” he said.
