Kenya will not allow foreign interference in the way it transacts its business in Parliament.

This is according to the Joint Select Committee on Election Laws Amendments.

According to National Assembly and Senate co-chairpersons William Cheptumo (Baringo North) and Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo), the country be deterred by calls from foreign envoys to shelve these amendments.

They said this after receiving input from organisations and individuals in their public participation exercise yesterday.

Speaking of diplomats in the country, the two argued that they (diplomats) had the right to comment on this matter but that they would not determine the direction the country takes.

"That's their opinion and what they proposed. It won't stop this committee from proceeding with the mandate before us. The diplomats have a right to say what they have to say because they are our friendly countries," said Cheptumo said.
