Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has said his government is committed to fighting the garbage menace in the city.
Speaking on Sunday, Sonko said he was constructing a recycling plant at the Dandora dumpsite as one of the measures to help finish garbage in Nairobi.
"My government is working on Dandora's dumpsite installation of a giant recycling plant at Dandora dumpsite. Once complete the recycling plant which shall be procured through public-private partnership process shall address the current garbage dumping challenge we are currently facing in Nairobi," he said.
He also promised to work with the private sector by awarding tenders to competent companies to deal with garbage in the city.
"The public procurement and disposal act shall strictly be complied with before awarding the project to any competent company," Sonko added.
