The Kenya Private Schools Association (KEPSA) supports the new School curriculum, the Association’s Honorary Secretary Mr. Charles Ochome Owoko has said.
Speaking in Kisumu on Wednesday, Mr. Owoko who is also the Director of Kisumu’s Golden Elite School said the new 2-6-6-3 curriculum is an idea whose time has come, and therefore they see no need of opposition it.
He said the curriculum is good because it is so much based on learning and technology.
“We have now entered a new era of education in this country. This new curriculum is good because it comes with technology,” said Mr. Owoko.
“Children will learn according to technology. We would not like to oppose something that will bring change in the education sector in this country,” he added.
The new 2-6-6-3 curriculum that is already being implemented in the country, replaces the 30 year old 8-4-4 system.
The new system which has been endorsed by government officials more so President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, and other education stakeholders emphasizes on continuous assessment tests rather than the traditional one-off final year exams.
The new system also emphasizes on reviews at various levels of pupils and students academic life.
The new system is geared towards ensuring that the country aligns the education system, with development needs of the 21st century.
