Nakuru County residents are calling upon Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to constitute a swift fire team to be responding to fire incidents in the county.
On Saturday, property worth millions of shillings was destroyed after a fire broke out in a company in the town and reduced property into ashes.
“As traders, we are asking for a good fire team be set up by this government. If the government cannot offer such services to its people yet we are the source of its revenue, which service will we benefit from?” Rumish Addut said.
“We want a situation whereby we can get a swift response,” he added.
Traders in several sub-counties in the County have been demanding better response to fire incidents as those affected continue to count losses.
“We pay Sh 1000 for fire every financial year. We want the county government to ensure it is dealing accordingly with fire issues,” Peter Nasieku said.
In an interview with this writer on Sunday, business people said they fear that there are no good measures put in place to deal with outbreaks.
