Bomet Senator Christopher Langat has vowed to table a motion in the Senate to send home Chief Justice David Maraga.

According to Langat, last Friday’s Supreme Courts’ ruling on presidential election petition showed that Justice Maraga is ‘incompetent’ and therefore should not be trusted with heading the top court in the land.

“The fact that Maraga swayed four Supreme Court judges to give a flawed ruling without considering millions of Kenyans choices in the just-concluded polls is enough to cause warrant of his removal from office,” said Langat, as quoted by the People Daily on Wednesday.

The legislator termed the judgment fallacious vowing to institute proceedings to kick out of office the Chief Justice when the House reconvenes.

“This is a politically motivated ruling and that is why we want him out. Maraga and the four judges should have found it prudent to order for the perusal of the system and a vote recount because in their ruling they were specific that anomalies were in the transmission system. A fresh election was superfluous,” Lagat said.

The Supreme Court on September 1 overturned the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and called for a fresh poll in 60 days.
