Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has mourned the death of the late Brian Ndungu who died during the Salgaa accident on New Year's day.
Speaking during a funeral service at St Monicah Church at Section 58 on Thursday, Mbugua said it was a big loss to the family since Ndungu had just completed his secondary education.
“This is a very young person that parents and community have really invested in. A loss of such magnitude cannot be explained and all I can say is sorry to the family,” he said.
The county boss called upon the community to hold back their resentments on the instances that led to the accident saying an accident can happen to anyone.
“I know it is very painful to lose five lives, let us not judge because these teenagers never knew that they would bid the world goodbye on that day. An accident can happen to anybody,” he stated.
He, however, said a new alcohol committee that has been put in place by his government will address some of the concerns raised by parents in regard to the teenagers' deaths.
“Be assured that we are doing something about this alcohol menace and especially reducing bars which have increased so much to a worrying level,” he concluded.
Ndungu died alongside four of his friends in the accident.
