Kisii Central Educational officer has promised a comeback in KCSE results following dismal and results the region from last year.
On Thursday, Christopher Nyaribo said recoding dismal performance in a single year was not a good parameter to weigh them in national exams.
The poor results by Kisii Central Sub County may have been as a result of cancellation of results belonging to academic power houses from the region, which were also among the five national schools affected, Nyabururu Girls and Kisii High school.
Kisii High results were cancelled by the Ministry on allegation that they involved malpractice in their History and Kiswahili Paper one while Nyabururu Girls results were withheld pending further investigations from the ministry.
“We will bounce back in this year’s exam. We may have not done well based on people’s assessment but am sure we will get out of this embarrassment,” Nyaribo said.
“You cannot really measure ability of a region from just one test. We have been doing well in the past and it is only this year that all went wrong for us,” he added.
According to him, this department will carry an assessment in all schools to investigate to possible reasons for the fall.
“I have already talked to my colleagues and we will investigate the possible reason. On the mean score, the sub county dropped from 6.36 to 4.99 this year and this is something serious,” he said.
The region lost its glory to Masaba South Sub County that also produced one of the best schools nationally, St. Charles Lwanga, Ichuni Girls.
