Western Stima Technical Director (TD) Henry Otieno Omino has expressed confidence that the team will only participate in the National Super League (NSL) for one year, before being promoted back to the Kenya Premier League (KPL).

Kisumu based Western Stima and neighbors Muhoroni Youth were recently relegated from KPL, with the teams set to be part of NSL next year.

However Omino believes that it will take them only one year in NSL before storming back to KPL.

“We have a meeting with the chairman later this week to discuss the way forward for the team in the NSL but the fact is we want to come back to the KPL immediately. We can only stay down there for a year,” the former Stima coach is quoted by Soka.co.ke

Stima, just like any other team that experiences relegation is expected to lose key players. Some of the players are already being tracked by KPL teams ahead of next season.

“I have heard about five or six top players want to leave but that is not yet official. In the coming weeks things will be clearer but I am not worried at all. We will try to get those who want to stay to be with us and chart the way forward together,” said Omino.

Western Stima was relegated after finishing 17th in the league, one position ahead of Muhoroni Youth.

Vihiga United and Wazito have since been promoted from NSL to take up Stima and Muhoroni Youth slots in KPL.
