If the government does not succumb to pressure in offering a select team to engage and resolve the IEBC stalemate, Cord will resort to a new and much powerful strategy.
This is according to Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama.
In a joint press briefing in Nairobi on Monday, Muthama cautioned the government for treating the issue lightly saying that their demands were genuine and that they would not rest until IEBC commissioners were out of office.
"If our quest for dialogue fails, we will escalate our demonstrations to show them the intensity of our seriousness on this," Muthama noted.
The outspoken senator added that a one-week ultimatum had been given to Jubilee to present their negotiation teams failure to which the demonstrations would shift from the usual one day to two days per week.
"If this week flops, we will be on the streets on Mondays and Thursdays. If in two weeks they will not have responded, it will be seven days a week. If that doesn't work, we are ready to be on the streets from Monday to Monday daily because of reforms and we say the IEBC commissioners must go," he added.
Other than the three Cord principals, Muthama and his Siaya counterpart Senator James Orengo have been key in staging the weekly demos in Nairobi.
