Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale has countered President Uhuru Kenyatta's strict stance to bar politicians from seeking funds in foreign countries, with the senator saying that the opposition will continue seeking as much funds as they deem appropriate.

Speaking during the Wiper Party National Delegates Conference at Kasarani on Tuesday, Khalwale said the opposition will continue soliciting for the financial aid from donors and other international bodies as is allowed in the Elections Act.

"The President should read the Act and understand that we will continue receiving funds and donations from foreign bodies. We will not use the money to shake his government, we will use the money to remove you from the government," he said.

Earlier, Government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe had made claims that unnamed politicians were already getting donations from foreign political bodies with an aim of destabilising the Jubilee administration.

This had been seconded by President Uhuru Kenyatta during his Jamhuri Day speech where he had asked these organisations to refrain from influencing the local political terrain through funding.
