Kisii governor James Ongwae has promised that his county government will continue to support the education sector even if the function is under the national government.
According to him, education is the key for every individual and there is a need for children to get supported by both the national and county governments to complete their education.
Speaking on Tuesday at Itibo Girls’ High school during a price giving day, Ongwae said the students will continue to get support from the county government through the bursary kitty.
“Its only a few days remaining so that all those who applied for the bursary to get money to continue with their studies in different institutions,” said Ongwae.
“In the 2015 /2016 budget my county government set aside Sh5 million for every ward to support students in their education,” added Ongwae.
Ongwae also asked national government to participate on its side to elevate the education sector by sending enough textbooks to school and other basic requirements.
