Uasin Gishu farmers have vowed to defect from Jubilee party if Sila Tiren is removed as the agriculture chairman in the National Assembly.
Led by the Kenya National Federation of Agricultural Producers (KENFAP) Uasin Gishu branch chairman Musa Barno they said they will not support such plans.
“As farmers from the region we are behind Moiben MP Sila Tiren as the chairman of the Agriculture and if he is removed we will defect from jubilee party since we will not stay in a government that does not have our problems at heart,” he said in Eldoret town during farmers demonstration, Monday.
“Tiren is the only person that is suited for the position since he has the problems of farmers at heart and he will help improve the agriculture sector. Seriously what does a person from North Eastern know about farming? How can a person be elected then you force him to resign?” he added.
They wondered why the deputy president William Ruto was against Tiren’s election yet he comes from the same region.
“I think there is something they are not telling us and if things stay as they are we will not support his 2022 presidential bid,” noted Barno. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Uasin Gishu that you want Hivisasa to cover?
