Political leaders in Uasin Gishu County have threatened to call for demonstrations amongst their supporters so as to push for the retirement of the opposition chief Raila Odinga.
The leaders who spoke during celebrations in Eldoret town after Uhuru Kenyatta was declared President-elect on Monday said Kenyans were tired of Raila Odinga's political rhetoric.
Led by Uasin Gishu County Assembly leader of majority Josphat Lowoi, the leaders insisted that it was time Raila took a permanent break from the Kenyan politics.
They also dismissed the opposition who have been insisting that another election must be held within 90 days after they termed the just-concluded exercise as a total sham.
“We want to tell our president that we don't want to hear anything to do with elections now. All we are waiting is for him to be sworn in and take full charge of the country,” said the Karuna Mibeki MCA.
“As Uasin Gishu leaders we want to make it clear that we are ready (if need be) to hold demonstrations to force Raila to retire because we are tired of his politics,” he added.
This comes even as the opposition leader was recently quoted saying nobody will force him to retire from politics pointing out that he would quit politics only after he has delivered Kenyans from “a corrupt Jubilee government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta” and when his heart desires.
