Nakuru county‭ ‬government has‭ ‬warned hawkers that‭ ‬they will demolish any kiosks erected in the‭ ‬county‭ ‬illegally.

Deputy‭ ‬governor Joseph Ruto cited that‭ ‬they only‭ ‬allowed hawkers to create descent‭ ‬kiosks of which no one will interfere with them. He‭ ‬accused local politicians‭ ‬of lying to farmers that‭ ‬they will give them‭ ‬kiosks and‭ ‬forced them to pay for it. ‎

"‏I would like to warn all‭ ‬the‭ ‬hawkers that‭ ‬politicians dishing out plots to certain individuals are‭ ‬coning them.‭ ‬One has to go through the legal process‭ ‬of‭ ‬getting such a‭ ‬kiosk,‭" ‬he cited he assured hawkers who went through the legal process‭ ‬that‭ ‬they will eventually get the kiosk. ‎

"‏Members‭ ‬of‭ ‬Parliament should stop‭ ‬interfering with‭ ‬the local matters and should‭ ‬instead‭ ‬concentrate on‭ ‬their roles in the national assembly.‭ ‬They should take the debate to‭ ‬parliament instead of interfering with‭ ‬our county.‭ ‬But i repeat that we shall demolish all the kiosks that were built by any illegal means,‭" ‬he added.

He‭ ‬cited a recent incident where a member of‭ ‬Parliament is‭ ‬suspected to‭ ‬have‭ ‬beaten up county‭ ‬inspectorate‭ ‬officers who were demolishing illegal‭ ‬kiosks erected in the town Central Business District. ‎“‏Nakuru does not belong to certain individuals.‭ ‬It is for everyone.‭ ‬Local politicians should stop behaving like the town belongs to them,‭”‬ he added
